Big.

Yesterday we made our first big purchases for our new little man - Sprout is now the proud owner of a car seat and snap-n-go stroller. Considering that March is practically around the corner, we figured it was time to bite the bullet and start with the "big ticket" items. Although we have only yet to purchase art work, a car seat, and stroller (you know, the serious stuff) I must confess that to me, buying baby gear is similar to buying a car. There are numerous reviews, recalls, and ratings for each item but no matter how long you do your homework, when it comes to making that final decision you cannot help but feel anxious that you bought a lemon. And no one wants their baby sitting, walking, sleeping, or eating in a lemon. We can only hope that we did not purchase "lemons" yesterday but I suppose that time will tell.

I imagine that our nerves about getting the safest, strongest, and most durable products are shared by all first-timers. And as such, it must be highly amusing to be a Babies R Us employee. Picture seeing couple after couple walk into your giant store, awestruck by its sheer size. Then imagine those same couples wandering over to the car seats where they test the weight of each one, admire the colors, the little straps, etc. Their smiles slowly turn to grimaces and groans as they get flustered trying to separate the base from the seat. Bases are repeatedly turned over and knees, elbows, and fingers are used in desperation to get the car seat out of its holder. Amusing, indeed.

Our experience was quite similar yesterday and it was humbling to perplexedly look each other and silently admit our inadequacies about baby products. If selecting a car seat is anything like parenthood, we certainly have a bumpy, yet comical ride ahead.

Addition.

Meet the newest member of our family...

Isn't technology adorable?

Although we have only had our little Mac Book for less than three days, we are already smitten. It is light.  White.  User friendly.  And basically everything that we were looking for.

For those of you who are in the market for a new machine may I suggest going to your local Apple store. Not only are these folks friendly, enthusiastic, and excellent sales people, it seems that the entire store exists to answer your questions.  Since I am Apple illiterate, I have become acquainted with my new best friends at The Gateway Apple store.   I have already spent several hours at the "Genius Bar," frantically trying to familiarize myself with this little machine. More issues are bound to arise, so I am positive that I will be a frequent visitor.

Anyone have any pearls of wisdom for a new, and somewhat confused, Apple user?

Advice.

For the past month or so Rob and I have found ourselves on the threshold of a big decision. Our trusty old laptop (thanks for the hand-me-down, Dad) is on the brink of crashing and it is finally time to consider getting a new one. The problem being that there are so many options out there that it is nigh impossible to choose on a whim. Over the weekend we ventured into Office Depot, Best Buy, and Costco and we were literally bombarded by shiny keyboards and glittering screens. With all of the brands out there and with so many programs available, we are left scratching our heads in confusion...which one do we buy? Mac? PC? Tablet?

Involving an IT-Guy or computer specialist into our pondering certainly does not help. Once a friendly member of the "Geek Squad" starts talking about the infinite number of "rams," "n-cards," "giga-bytes," and "memory cards" inward confusion and hysteria ensues. Surely these smart and capable people could explain a computer in simpler terms?! Yes, they are talented and they most definitely know their stuff but with all of the unfamiliar terminology they throw around it feels like you would be making an investment of a lifetime instead of buying a mere computer.

So I am now asking you, my fellow bloggers for advice. What type of computer do you use? And if you were to buy a new one, which one would you buy?

All of your comments will be greatly appreciated, and I am seriously considering petitioning the computer people's union to become more user-friendly in their sales demos...who's with me?!
